Bush, Republicans to Blame

CNN (.pdf) polls Americans:

Do you think the policies of Barack Obama and the Democrats or George W. Bush and the Republicans are more responsible for the country's current economic problems?

Obama and Democrats: 33 percent
Bush and Republicans: 53 percent
Both equally (vol.): 10 percent
Neither (vol.): 3 percent
No opinion: 1 percent

When CNN also polled a slightly different question that didn't include the names of Barack Obama or George W. Bush, and Americans still laid blame on the GOP, although by a narrower 44 percent to 35 percent margin. These numbers suggest that while not all of George W. Bush's taint is sticking with the Republicans, a great deal of it nevertheless is, giving the Democrats a real opportunity to capitalize.
