Could Angle Drag Down Nevada Republicans?

Freshman Democratic Congresswoman Dina Titus is banking on it:

Sharron Angle's numbers are close to toxic in Nevada these days. The most recent Mason-Dixon polling for the Las Vegas Review-Journal found her net favorability rating at -12 percent, with just 35 percent viewing her favorably and 47 percent viewing her unfavorably. Even more recent GOP polling on the race (.pdf) gives her worse numbers -- a 52 percent unfavorable rating, up a remarkable 44 points since February, along with a favorability score of just 38 percent.

Although Angle is at the top of the ballot, it is no foregone conclusion that her unpopularity will rub off on down-ballot Republicans. That's why ads like this, which tie GOP candidates to her using their own words, are so important. And with Titus already leading, albeit narrowly, this Angle ad might just be enough to help earn her a second term.

  1. Couldn't you look at this from the opposite direction though? Reid's efforts to paint Angle as SO far outstream that she's beyond regular conservatism would lose resonance when other ads are claiming that she's similar to other conservatives, like Heck...
