Gallup: Obama in the Positive Territory for Second Straight Day

It's interesting. The media hyperventilates over any Gallup polling that finds the Democrats in despair. But when Gallup finds Barack Obama's approval rating jumping a net 12 percentage points in two and a half weeks, with more approving than disapproving for two straight days -- the first time that has been the case since mid-July -- all we hear is... crickets. Interesting.

  3. He went from 41% to 47%, a "jump" of 6%.

Now he's back down to 46%.

    Obama went from a 41/52 spread (-11) to a 46/45 spread (+1) -- a net increase of 12 points.

  6. Obama needs to begin to blame Repubs for stalling on recovery stimulus. He then helps Demos not just himself...He is great at keeping his numbers up, but where is he when Beck, Limbaugh, et. al., attack???? He needs to be out front, not behind the scenes negotiating on the Middle East, with so much at stake...Al Qaeda is bankrupting us, simply by keeping our eye on their little tricks in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and maybe even Gaza (or its Iran), and off the ball on our economy. Come on, Obama, help Demos where it counts...at home!

  7. Gallup's volatility is notorious. I am amazed people take their outliers seriously.

Agreed. As I posted a few days back, the importance of these Gallup numbers are too oftenoverstated. The only thing is that they are generally overstated only when they are bad for the Dems -- not the other way.

  9. re: Jonathan Singer: That's funny.

About the 12 pt increase, could that be related to the Iraq victory speech (more accurately, the withdrawal speech).
