Democratic Congressman Charlie Melancon, who is waging an uphill battle to knock off freshman Republican Senator David Vitter, is out with a jaw-dropping ad that Politico reports "will run in every market in Louisiana." Take a look:
This race isn't particularly close at present; the Pollster.com trend estimate gives Vitter a lead in the neighborhood of 15 percentage points. That said, Vitter is polling just a hair above 50 percent, and if any advertisement could pull him under this mark (and remember, candidates need 50 percent in Louisiana or they go to a runoff), this might be it.
