When we first learned of Scott McAdams in the wake of Joe Miller's surprising defeat of Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski in the Alaska GOP primary, I wrote that he was "actually pretty good." Indeed, he is. Here's his first ad:
This race is going to be a mess to poll -- Alaska isn't an easy state to survey, for starters, and polling a write-in bid like that of Murkowski adds its own difficulties -- but for what it's worth, early indications suggest that this could be a competitive race. If McAdams can position himself as the sensible alternative to the ideological battle between Miller and Murkowski -- and this ad does a good job of seeking to establish this narrative -- he just might be able to pull of a surprising victory.
