It's not a statistic that garners much attention, and it is certainly not one that is reflected in our politics today. But the striking number out of the latest ABC News/Washington Post survey is that a majority of Americans favor stricter gun control regulation, including 57 percent who back a bill that would ban high-capacity ammunition clips like the one used in this month's attack on Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords that left 6 dead.
According to the survey, 52 percent of the country backs stricter gun control laws, while 45 percent oppose them. This spread is slightly wider than it was when polled in 2009, but generally narrower than it was in years past. That said, the numbers are clear: more Americans back than oppose stricter gun laws. And that's just not a position that is reflected in our politics today.
all bullshit,,,, gun control stifles law abiding citizens, not criminals, move to fucking france if you don't like the laws here, or are "afraid".
